Kakobuy add-on services and QC photos: what to pay for

Optional services are best chosen for a specific question or packing need. Compare their quoted cost with what they can actually resolve; the cheapest service is not always the useful one.

Picking add-on services

At stake on the reference order: US$5.49 on the reference order if you pre-pack, buy three extra photos and add priority purchase to all three item lines.
The part you control: All of it. Every add-on is optional.
Where it trades places with the next lever: Pre-packing at ¥18 pays for itself when the weigh-in shows the parcel clears a line's weight floor or drops below a price band.

The add-on price ladder

Dated prices and service targets from the help centre on 10 October 2026, all in yuan. Confirm availability, eligibility and handling targets in your account before ordering:

Parcel photo, three shots before shipping: free, but only if you tick it when you submit.
Personalized photograph: ¥2 per photo, within 24 hours of the item being in stock.
Priority purchase: ¥5 per commodity order line, processed within 4 hours of buyer working time.
Storage extension: historical ¥10 per OG order number per 30 days, subject to eligibility and confirmation.
Fragile reinforcement: ¥10 per item, air-column wrapping.
Pre-packing: ¥18 once, packed weight returned within 24 hours.
Vacuum packaging: ¥20 per package.

Pre-packing: an ¥18 weigh-in before you pay freight

The captured pre-packing service describes packing and reporting weight before the final shipping decision, with a historical 24-hour target. Provide the parcel S number or the relevant OG orders and the packing instructions. Confirm the current target and whether the reported dimensions match the arrangement you intend to dispatch.

It is worth ¥18 when the decision depends on the packed weight: when you are near a 2,000 g floor, near a 2 kg line cap like EUB's, or deciding whether removing boxes moves you into a lower band. For a simple lightweight item, compare the service price with the uncertainty it would remove.

QC photos: what the free inspection covers

Inspection is free. The help centre's inspection rules say Kakobuy checks appearance: model, style and size. It opens garments, bags, suitcases and shoes; anything factory-sealed or taped shut is only looked at from the outside. Electronics, household appliances and digital goods get no check of function, quality or authenticity.

So the standard QC photos answer one question well: is this the item, colour and size you ordered. They do not tell you whether earbuds pair or a watch keeps time.

Reading the QC photos before the parcel leaves

The photos appear under User Center, Warehouse, on each stored item. Check the relevant visible details while an eligible return request is still possible. This routine cannot establish every hidden defect or correct fit.

Match the variant first: colour, size label and any printed size on the item against your order line.
Look for the obvious defects the photos can show: stains, pulls, misaligned prints, crushed boxes.
Check what is missing: dust bags, laces, straps, accessories shown in the listing.
If something matters and is not visible, buy one ¥2 personalized photo of exactly that detail, a tag, a measurement, a logo, rather than guessing.
Decide within the window. The captured return guidance describes a 120-hour window from Stocked in for eligible purchases. Check seller approval, exclusions and return postage; it is not an unconditional refund.

A warehouse check gives you a chance to act before international delivery. Returns may still have eligibility rules, seller approval and shipping costs.

Extra photos at ¥2, and the free parcel photo

The personalized photograph service is bought after an item is in stock: you give the OG number and describe the shot, such as a chest logo or a garment length measured with a tape. Photos arrive by internal message within 24 hours, ¥2 each.

The parcel photo is a different thing and costs nothing: three photos of the packed parcel, showing contents before sealing and the sealed parcel with its weight. It is only provided if you tick it on the waybill form. These photos can help document the packing; they are not an insurance policy or a guarantee that a dispute will be resolved.

Priority purchase and buyer hours

Priority purchase costs ¥5 per item line and promises processing within 4 hours of buyer working time. Buyer hours for Taobao, Tmall, JD, Weidian, Yupoo and Xianyu are 9:00 to 18:00 Monday to Sunday; other platforms are Monday to Friday only. The tutorial page gives 3 to 5 working hours as the normal order review time.

Priority changes the purchase-handling queue, not the seller’s stock or domestic delivery speed. The older tutorial’s 3–5-day transit example is not a promise. Confirm the service target before paying for a time-sensitive listing.

Packing add-ons: vacuum bags and reinforcement

A vacuum bag at ¥20 compresses quilts and soft clothes; for a puffer jacket on a volume-priced line it can pay for itself by shrinking the box. Fragile reinforcement at ¥10 per item wraps glass, ceramics and similar goods in air-column bags, and the help centre itself says it is not recommended for other products.

Both add weight. Ask for them for a reason, and ideally with a pre-pack weigh-in so you see the effect before you pay for freight.

Write a photo request that answers one question

Use the item’s OG number and ask for an observable detail: “show the chest width flat with both tape endpoints visible” is more useful than “check quality”. Compare the result with a garment you own. If the answer changes whether you would keep the item, request it before the applicable return period ends.

Choose evidence before choosing the extra

If the question is fit, request a measurement with the tape endpoints visible and compare it with a garment you own. If the question is whether an included strap is present, request a view of the accessories. A closer logo photo cannot answer either question.

If the question requires powering an electronic item or verifying a material claim, ask whether that service is offered; do not assume a paid photo expands the published inspection scope. Resolve product questions before purchasing when a later return would be restricted.
